In August a fun time was had at the Bar Z by a guy who wrote out his time in a unique diary form. Brian Hodges of Double Haul Travel was there to catch it all on camera. Read his diary log here.
The weather in Montana is still cold, but the rainbows are starting think about the spawn and so are we!!! Currently we all are working our winter jobs and counting the days until we can cast to rising trout and wading the many beautiful Montana rivers. Oh and it’s snowing and 10 degrees…… So as I feed cows each morning and enjoy the winter days, I still count the days until the the bugs hatch, and the fly drops!
We at the Bar Z are reaching out to ask for help. We have recently had the pleasure to meet Bill Farnum and the folks at Casting 4 A Cure! Bill has started a non-profit foundation to help raise money to extend and aid in the research for a much needed cure of Rett Syndrome. They use the great sport of fly fishing to help their cause by putting on two great fishing tournaments, one in Steamboat, Colorado and the other in Victor, Idaho. Best of luck to all the teams entering this years tournaments!
Rett Syndrome (RTT) is a unique neurodevelopmental disorder which begins to show its affects in infancy or early childhood. It is seen almost exclusively in females, although it can occur rarely in boys. The disorder severely disrupts gross and fine motor skills as well as robbing the girls of their ability to speak and communicate with the outside world. Seizures and breathing problems can also be prevailing symptoms.
It affects every aspect of a family’s life, as the girls become dependent for almost everything, from helping feed them to helping them get around, bathing, and most other daily tasks that most of us take for granted.
Bill Farnum has started the Casting 4 A Cure, and we feel it is important to help out his foundation as much as we can. If you’d like to help C4C out, the best part is that it is helping to save our younger generations of young girls and your donations are classified as 501-3c. If you’d like to help please go to the C4C donation site and do what you can to help!
To watch a very touching video and see why it has spurred us to do anything we can to help out the C4C foundation, watch this video, Give Our Girls A Voice. Thank you for your help!
This year Mother-nature opened up the flood gates and dumped moisture non-stop all Spring! The water levels have been usually high, but the past week’s heat has brought the levels down the the rivers are looking good. Doc Brown and Brian Hodges headed out in font of the cabin today and fish heads were popping up everywhere they looked. Fishing has arrived at the Bar Z and the outlook looks pretty sweet!!!
