Dave Hanson | Professional Montana Guide / Manager

Born and raised in Montana has allowed Dave to fish some of the best trout waters in the world his entire life. Growing up in the Bozeman area provided Dave with an endless supply of outdoor activities to partake in. Following a nice baseball career in college and a brief stint playing ball in California, Dave managed to get on the pro snowmobile hill-climb circuit. Older and wiser, Dave now enjoys the long summer days guiding anglers on the ranch or floating some of the amazing stretches of water a short drive away. He recently took three months off and visited Argentina in search of huge South American trout. Although he had an amazing trip, he never could get the visions of summer in Montana too far from his mind. During the off season Dave spends the Montana winters working on the Cooper Hereford Ranch just outside of Willow Creek, Montana. He’s excited to show anglers everything that the amazing fisheries of Montana have to offer.

Jared Arnold

Jared Arnold | Professional Montana Guide

Jared was born and raised just outside of the Bozeman area. His father was a very passionate fisherman, from the time Jared was old enough to hold a rod, his father had one in his hand. His home river was the Madison. Jared’s dad taught him everything to know about fishing, the most important thing he taught him is, “if it has water in it all year, there will be fish!” His father also passed on to him his knowledge of botany, entomology and biology. Everyday on the water was also a lesson in science, and he and his father have fished just about every piece of Montana water that they could get to. While not on the field having a solid football career at Montana Tech, he was wading the waters of western Montana. After spending an amazing summer guiding in Alaska for Crystal Creek Lodge, Jared longed for his return to Montana. Fishing has taken him to a lot of places, but “there’s no place better for me than my home of Montana, casting to a wild Montana trout!”

Russ Milam | Professional Montana Guide

Russ was born and raised in Belgrade, Montana and now spends his days ranching when he isn’t out guiding the waters he knows so well.  He grew up fishing the waters of Southwest Montana with his uncle Bud.  Russ graduated from Boise State University, where he competed as a All-American javelin thrower in NCAA Track & Field.  He then moved to Cohagen, MT where he now runs and owns his family’s cattle ranch. Russ has been Dave’s best friend since they were just young fishermen, and you can’t find a better guide or a better person to spend the day with.  Russ has fished the waters of the Bar Z since he was a young teen, so you could say he knows the place.  He has guided for the Bar Z for 8 years and spent another summer at the Ruby Springs Lodge in Alder, MT.  His knowledge of Private Montana waters, and his easy going attitude make him one of the best guides to spend the day on the river with.
